Porsche is currently basking in the glory of their newest super car to hit the track. The Rolex 24 at Daytona marks the celebratory return of the racing season for 2017, and the legendary Porsche team unveiled the Porsche 911 GT3 R at the legendary event. Equal in stature to the 12 Hours of Sebring and 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Rolex 24 at Daytona is one of the most prestigious endurance race events in the world; the Porsche GT Team was very well-prepared for the season-opening round of the IMSA SportsCar Championship, taking home a hard-won 2nd place trophy, second only to the Ford GT which won by a very narrow margin. Second place is still a remarkable showing for the newly debuted Porsche 911 GT3 R driven by the inimitable team of Patrick Pilet (France), Dirk Werner (Germany) and Frédéric Makowiecki (France). Pilet, the driver behind the wheel in the last turn stated "I'm never happy with second…I'm proud of the world the guys did our first time out…I was glad I was able to maintain second for Porsche." We feel confident that the team will have many first place trophies under their belt by the end of the season.
