2020 Porsche Cayenne vs 2020 BMW X5

Serving North Bethesda, MD

If you are debating between the 2020 Porsche Cayenne and the 2020 BMW X5, you are in good company. These two popular models proudly display their luxury and have elite appeal, but they are stunningly different in most areas. The 2020 Cayenne has a fresh, powerful look thanks to a generational update that took place only a few years ago. The BMW X5 entered its current generation at the same time, but this is where most of their similarities end.

One of the first things that you will notice when you see the 2020 Porsche Cayenne in person is that it takes design cues from its sports car cousins. From front to rear, the Cayenne has smooth, powerful surfaces. The tapered nose has a rounded front end, and muscular front flanks flank the hood. The Porsche-specific headlights extend back along these flanks. Other equipment on the Cayenne includes a hands-free liftgate, remote access, heated and power-adjusting side mirrors, a rear spoiler, air vents, and black molding.

In comparison to the Cayenne's coupe-like appearance, the X5 has an upright stance with a gentle angle along with the hood and a flat nose. The nose is dressed up by a small grille featuring vertical bars that are common with the BMW brand. Some of its other features are heated side mirrors, a moonroof, fog lamps, and other items.

Differences between the 2020 Cayenne and the 2020 X5 continue throughout their cabins. You will notice that they both come with heated front seats, mounted controls on a heated steering wheel, and a color display screen for the media equipment. However, the interior of the Cayenne has a high-end, cockpit-like ambiance. Its features include leather seating, a communications management feature, a navigation system, a rising center console, keyless ignition, assistive safety technologies, digital driver's gauges, and other items. The 2020 BMW X5 comes with a power-adjustable steering column, power door locks, a sound system, an auto climate control system, smart device integration, Bluetooth technology, Sensatec upholstery, and a few other features.

The base trims for the Cayenne, and the X5 are both outfitted with a comparable powertrain that produces 335 horsepower. The X5 is available with only one other powertrain, and this is a 523-horsepower, TwinPower Turbo 4.4-liter engine. The Cayenne, on the other hand, is available with three additional powertrain options. These are a 670-horsepower turbo e-hybrid engine, a 434-horsepower twin-turbocharged V6 engine, and a 445-horsepower e-hybrid engine.
